Welcome to Maple Grove UMC

We are an open community of Christians who love God and serve our neighbors (Luke 10:27).
They left everything and followed him.

The Maple Grove Adult Mission Team Travels to Joplin, Missouri.
Leaving Sunday, May 13th and returning Saturday, May 19th.
On May 22, 2011, a multi-vortex EF-5 tornado ripped a 13 mile path of destruction through Joplin and its neighboring communities.
Over 1100 were injured and 162 lost their lives. An estimated 8000 structures were destroyed, including 300 businesses. To get a sense of the tornado’s power, St. John’s Regional Medical Center, one of the largest buildings in Joplin, was shifted off it’s foundation and rendered unusable at the time it was needed most.
Though the response has been overwhelming, now 10 months after the storm, more than 450 families are still living in FEMA trailers, and many more are struggling to repair or rebuild their homes. The Office of Creative Ministries (UMOCM), an arm of the Southern Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church is an active part of a larger ecumenical recovery effort. Our team from Maple Grove will be volunteering with UMOCM to help repair or rebuild homes and provide other needed services.
Ask anyone who has been on a mission trip, and they will tell you it is a great spiritual experience. There will be plenty of hard work, good fellowship, and best of all, the chance to be the hands of Christ.
