Strategic Ministry Plan: Discerning God's Call for Maple Grove

WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD

Why are we writing a strategic plan?

God calls the church into existence. Our task is to discern God's call for our community of faith and order the life of our church accordingly. But what does the Lord require?  The prophet Micah says that God has told us what is good?We must seek justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8).

Micah's ethical command frames our attempt at Maple Grove to hear God's call. It takes work; it also is a matter of grace. Ultimately, discernment requires our willingness to act in faith on our sense of what God wants us to do.

A representative group of our congregation?the Micah Committee?met five times early in 2006 to ask, "What does the Lord require of Maple Grove?" This report is the result of their prayerful consideration. It builds on earlier work completed by the first Micah Committee in 2003, and makes recommendations to be an open community of Christians, love God, serve our neighbors, and involve every member in ministry.
